This could change your life!

It is good to take a break - an opportunity to take stock, think things through and see what could be better. For some, life feels good - we have a lot to be thankful for - yet there is still more and we want to live in that ‘more’. For others, life feels like a continuous uphill struggle. Does it really have to be like this?

The aim of the weekend is to help us understand ourselves better. We will do that through teaching, sharing our experiences with you, providing you with opportunities to talk one to one as well as group discussion. The weekend will challenge and create new perspectives and you will  leave with a greater ability to relate better to those who matter in your lives.

Some of our weekends are residential, and in which case the venue is a small family farm in the village of Cratfield – a beautiful setting in the heart of rural Suffolk. The accommodation is in four-star cottages enjoying excellent views of the countryside. Some of the weekends are in various locations around the country. There is a complete list of courses below.

These are a few of the many testimonials from previous weekends:

‘The course explained the reasons why I feel like I do.’

‘A great help in developing my understanding of myself and others.’

‘An incredibly valuable experience.’

‘Accommodation had the wow factor – warm, welcoming and comfortable.’

‘Most interesting, very relevant and helpful to my specific situation.’

'The best and most practical Christian course I’ve ever been on… when we understand our temperaments and can see God’s vision and created purpose for them it transforms the way we think about ourselves in a real and practical way.'

Each weekend forms part of an ongoing series, building on the previous one.

Step One

We discover our combination of temperaments and how our two main temperaments interact within us and the significance of that interaction. We look at how our past has helped to shape who we are today and how our identity is formed - plus many more fascinating insights.

Three weekends coming up for Step One. We put Step Ones on in the beginning of the year and there is no guarantee that others will be put on during the year so do take this opportunity to book in this time round.

Bristol

This is a non-residential course. If you are travelling in from outside Bristol it may be possible to help you with local accommodation if you give sufficient notice.

13th - 15th January 2012

Cratfield, Suffolk

These are residential courses in which you will be sharing cottages that are part of a small holiday complex.

3rd - 5th February 2012

24th - 26th February 2012

Step Two

This weekend will give a greater opportunity to explore in depth the understanding and application of the material covered in Step One as well as sharing new insights, including how to become truly objective. Group sessions will enable us to explore the power of how we feel about ourselves, and how to properly value others and ourselves.

Our next Step Two will be:

Bristol

Alma Church, Bristol

23rd - 25th March 2012

Step Three

This weekend will again build on the first two but will demonstrate how to use what we have learnt to make a real difference in the lives of others. There will be opportunity for some ‘hands on’ experience!

Our next Step Three will be:

Pool, Cornwall

27th - 29th January 2012

Cratfield

2nd - 4th March 2012

The difference between the online course and 'Understanding Yourself' course

The online course is not the same as the Understanding Yourself Course. The online course is a personal look at the formative influences of our childhood, a discovery of our particular temperament blends and how those influences have shaped who we are by temperament.

The Understanding Yourself Course also helps us to identify our particular temperaments blends but, in addition, introduces fascinating concepts such as ‘how our identity is formed,’ ‘affirmation’ and ‘reaching the introvert within ourselves.’ Being part of a group clearly helps provide numerous insights and illustrations of what is being shared.

As you can see, the two do dovetail and complement each other well but I would always encourage someone to attend the course as it creates an ideal context if you want to go on and do the online course.

Bring the course to your area

These courses have already been taken to Newquay, Pool, Portreath, Bristol, Wimborne and Earl Soham and we are heading back to Portreath and Bristol in the New Year. If you are part of a church or group that would like to explore the possibility of bringing this course to your area please get in touch.

Organise your own residential weekend

If you have between 12 and 15 people who would like to come to lovely rural Suffolk for a Step One Understanding Yourself weekend we can arrange that. This year we have a group from London doing just that. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow together and would be ideal for a home group or leadership team that wanted to build better relationships.
